PIENG-POR-DEE GARDEN, THEPTARIN HOSPITAL
Pieng-Por-Dee Vegetable Garden is located on the rooftop of Theptarin’s first 4-storey building. The total area is 250 square meters with planting area of 150 square meters. The space was unutilized prior to the start of vegetable gardening with funding from the Thai Health Foundation and Grandpa Urban Farm team. Pieng-Por-Dee Vegetable Garden started in 2016 to encourage and to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables among all people especially the patients, and the surrounding community.
Supalai
Supalai Village has launched the “Happiness Camp” project for their Thai, Burmese, Laos, Khmer workers. This project provides a space to the workers for growing the organic vegetables. Grandpa Urban farm is invited to be a consultant and coaching for them. The project started in April 2017 by dividing the workers into 5 groups, each group gets 50 square meters area for planting and consumption. Various types of vegetables are listed from their demand which they usually consume in daily life. Supailai supports all material such as soil, compost, husk, straw, fertilizer, and seeds
The duty of Grandpa Urban Farm is training, following up and guiding the workers throughout the whole project (2 weeks ) The project conducted on 30 June 2017 was not only to let the worker to plant, but also to contest and to give the prize for the most successful team. At the end of the projects, everyone was satisfied. Their vegetables grew very well even in the reclaimed soil during heavy storm of a rainy season. As a result, staff members have gained a tremendous knowledge about organic gardening. They are now able to produce their own organic fresh vegetable. Moreover, they can exponentially reduce food costs in their daily life.
